'I needn't have worried. Ben, Terry and their students were welcoming and friendly and put me at ease right away as I threw myself into my first session. I collapsed into bed that night pleasantly tired but knowing I'd found something that would be challenging and rewarding in equal measures.
'Fast forward a year and a half and I'm now a Blue Belt. under Ben and Terry's expert eyes I have gained fitness, skills and confidence, and BJJ has also effected the rest of my life too - I feel positive, focused, disciplined and more assertive.
'One thing I especially like about BJJ is that it gives you a range of self-defence options that are absent in some arts, for example the ability to subdue an attacker without hurting them. This part of BJJ is overlooked at some sport-oriented clubs so I think it's great that it's still part of the curriculum at Can Do Martial Arts.
'I'd urge anyone that is thinking of coming along to jump in with both feet even if you're a bit scared. Your worries will quickly disappear and I'm confident that BJJ will have as much to offer you as it has me.
'See you on the Mat!'

I was 33 years old in 2021 and thought I would never get anywhere, as a 33 year old white belt in a combat sport as complex as BJJ. But, I hadn't trained with Ben, Terry or occasionally Phil before, so after one lesson, I knew I was onto a good thing! Two years and 2 months later I have earned my Blue Belt!
The reason I have committed to training for over two years is solely down to the two coaches Ben and Terry. Both coaches are incredibly Knowledgeable... and patient! And have bith worked hard to create a great, friendly and welcoming club! The atmosphere is the best thing about coming to training. The coaches have led by example and created a genuinely friendly team of people."

What should I bring with me?
You'll need as much jiu Jitsu gear as possible, we do have drying room where you can hang your gi and we will be running both gi and no gi classes, so 2-3 gi's will be ample. Rash guards, spats and shorts are also recommended, along with a sweat towel and water bottle for training. Outside of class, there will be hiking and swimming options, so a sturdy pair of fell trainers or walking boots would be good, and then we have meals out where you can dress as you wish to relax and unwind.
What is included in the price?
